This is How We Do Easter

In my family we do Easter big! Why? Because it’s the holiday that celebrates that death no longer has a sting and that we now have the promise of spending eternity in Heaven thanks to Jesus’ blood when he died for our sins on the cross.

HALLELUJAH!

In our family celebration = fun!!!
So here’s what we do to celebrate:

1. We have an adult egg hunt.
Since my brother and I are the babies of the family (keep in mind we are both in our 20s), and still not ready to give up going on an egg hunt, I decided a few years ago to make our egg hunt an all adult egg hunt. So every year after my husband, brother, and I go our egg hunt I put on a hunt for my parents and grandparents. Talk about a good time. The first time I did it which was five years ago, my grandfather, who has since passed away, had the biggest smile on his face and when I asked him if he enjoyed it he responded, “this is the first egg hunt I’ve ever been on!” Talk about awesome. Here’s a photo of the parent and grandparent egg hunt I put on this year.

2. My husband and I do Easter baskets.
If you can’t tell how much of a kid I am at heart after this post you’re crazy…lol! But my husband and I started making Easter baskets for each other when we were dating in high school and the tradition stuck. Here’s our baskets to each other this year:
3. We eat. A LOT!
This year my grandmother bought a honey baked ham and mom made buffalo chicken tenders, homemade mac and cheese, jello, rolls, boiled eggs, deviled eggs, peas, squash, and cucumber salad. Um yum! And of course I made dessert.
And the best part? That was just Easter celebration #1. We celebrated with my family Saturday after church and spent all day Sunday doing it again with my husband’s family. I don’t need to eat again for a year. Unfortunately I was eating again Monday morning…
What fun Easter traditions does your family have?

This is too funny, Chelsea! Although, it almost made me tear up at the same time about your Grandpa never having one! But what a great idea for the adults…so doing this next year!
