Valentine’s Weekend & Winshape Marriage Retreat

This year for Valentine’s Day the hubs and I had the privilege of attending a Marriage Retreat called Romantic Adventure at Winshape in Rome, GA. For those of you not familiar with Winshape it is a non-profit organization run by the Cathy Family (the founders of Chick-fil-A). Winshape has many different ministries but their marriage program is the one we experienced this past weekend and it was wonderful!

The marriage retreat was a great, relaxing getaway for us in the beautiful surrounding of the north Georgia mountains. The food is amazing and the classes were great as well! They have all kinds of different marriage retreats ranging from Marriage Intensives for marriages that are on the verge of being finished to retreats like the one we attended that the sole purpose is to get away with your spouse, focus on each other and God’s vision and purpose for your marriage.

The retreat we attended, Romantic Adventure, was lead by Shawn and Christina Stoever. Some of the takeaways we brought home from the retreat are the importance of setting a family vision and also of speaking love into your spouse’s life via their God given gifts. My husband shared with me that he loves that I celebrate occasions. I am a big celebrator and love to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and special events but did not know this was something by husband appreciated about me until this retreat. I shared with him that I appreciate his kindness and thoughtfulness for others.

As part of the retreat you get the opportunity to experience Winshape Wilderness, which is ropes course of the retreat. You are supposed to climb on all these high rope course activities with your spouse to build trust, etc. but I could not participate since I am pregnant. I was quite thankful after watching the husband climb up a really high pole in the air and jump off (see video below) that I was not allowed to participate. 🙂

All in all we had a wonderful time being away together for the weekend and focusing on our marriage! If you are looking for a weekend getaway with your spouse I would highly encourage Winshape Marriage Retreats!
