Our Family’s Favorite Ways to Celebrate Easter

So the most requested topic via Instagram to share with you all was our family’s favorite Easter activities. I am enclosing a list of some of our family’s favorite things to do to celebrate the Easter season and also some great resources for you guys early so that you can start planning now 🙂 . We love celebrating and teaching our children about Jesus’ death and resurrection and try to make this time of year super fun for the kids and also as much about Jesus as possible! I absolutely LOVE this time of year, who is with me?! Here are some of our favorite things to do to celebrate Easter:

  • Resurrection Eggs – these are hands down one of our favorite things we do each Easter season. Each egg opens up and the kids can discover something special inside along with a coordinating Bible verse to read that goes along with what is inside the egg. The kids do this over and over and somehow this activity year after year never loses its special-ness. Do yourself a favor and if you don’t already have a set go purchase one today!
  • Easter crafts – the kids and I love to bake and craft together over Easter. These ceramic eggs (available on Amazon) are super fun to paint and color. We also love making bunny cupcakes together. You can see some we have made in the past on this old blog post.
  • Easter egg hunts and festivals – we love going on Easter egg hunts and to Easter festivals this time of the year in our community. Almost all the egg huts are free and most have other fun events such as face painting, games, etc. so they are super fun on a beautiful spring day. Macaroni Kids is a great resource for finding events local to you in your community. We also typically do a family egg hunt with all our cousins. I think these slime eggs (also available on Amazon) would be perfect if you have an event you need to bring eggs to.
  • Easter baskets – we love spoiling the kids with fun in their Easter baskets on Easter morning. We usually put a few sweet treats, a book, an activity, and a small toy or two in their baskets. These little Mickey bunnies are too adorable and would be a great addition.
  • Dying Easter Eggs – this is something we love to do together as a family!
  • Teach our kids the Easter story – we adore the Jesus Storybook Bible and use this as our primary resource to teach the kids the story of Easter at their level along with our Bible favorites. We also love these awesome resources from Melissa and Doug including this reusable sticker book and this Water Wow.
  • Read Easter books – full list of all our favorites coming soon!
  • Decorate for Easter – we love decorating the house for Easter in spring colors, bunnies, chicks, and pastels. I plan to post a full list of spring and Easter items available on Amazon soon!
  • Dress in all the cute Easter outfits and coordinating spring outfits. Let’s admit it…us moms are all about our Easter photos, right? We love our adorable outfits from Feltman brothers! Also, how cute are these coordinating mommy and me dresses?
  • We love watching the movie “Hop” available on Netflix as well.

What are some of your favorite Easter traditions and things to do as a family? Please share below!
