Me and the hubs couldn’t be more excited about the new year, because we are going to become parents in 2014! Yesterday marked a very special day for us because we found out the gender of our baby!!! (Sorry can’t share until after Sunday when we have our Gender Revel Party)!
We paid a little extra to have a 2D ultra sound and a 3D ultra sound where they took lots of pictures and video and it was AMAZING! Here is a preview shot below of Baby T:

I am really beginning to get the urge to clean, organize, de-clutter, and redecorate my home. I’d say that the nesting is kicking in big time! And I’m excited because after this weekend we can officially begin to start on the nursery! Whohoo!
I have a list of pre-baby projects that are on the top of my New Year’s Resolutions and might should be for you as well if you are having a baby in 2014:
1. Put your paper ‘junk’ together: even more important than a well decorated nursery are your child’s medical needs and daily care. Before anything else you need to find a pediatrician and make sure insurance is in order. Another important task to do if you are going back to work (like me) is to start thinking about childcare and maternity leave and working through all those details and paperwork.
2. Tackle your budget: it’s no secret that children cost money! I have already begun to read up on how and where to get the cheapest diapers. I came across this article and thought it was very interesting (if not a tad stressful, I guess I need to start stocking up now?!?)
3. Organize: prioritize the projects that will be most useful for you with a new baby at home. For me this means starting with the baby’s room and closet but also cleaning out and making space in our areas the baby will be in often such as living room and kitchen cabinets (think baby bottles).
4. Baby proof your house: time to start putting those plug protectors in and cabinet locks on!
5. Finish/Start Baby’s Room: decorating, organizing, and stocking the baby’s room is one of the most fun parts if you ask me! From painting to assembly the crib and finding the perfect lamp these are all tasks that will be easier to achieve prior to baby’s arrival.
6. Pencil in time for yourself: make sure that you are in order and peace! Remember even though you will love your baby you will be operating on low margins of time and energy once he or she arrives. Take time now to schedule a pedicure or read a book!
Those are all such great tips! I'm so excited for you two! My tip: Have Patience… in everything. (=
Thanks so much, Gloria! 🙂
I'm down for a "paint the room/furniture" party for my future niece or nephew! Also, I'm foreseeing a spa date for you and me before the little tot arrives:)
Haha you're on! I think we are planning to paint next week! And I have a massage envy giftcard so I would def love to hit that up with ya! 🙂
This is great, if only I had read this before I had my little ones! Great information, thanks for sharing and linking up at this week's Friday Pin Fest!
Thanks Kristy!
How exciting! We were amazed when our granddaughter was born a few weeks ago and she really looked just like her 3D sonogram!
Congratulations! How exciting. It sounds like you will be ready for the baby.
Happy New Year!

Thank you! We are so excited! I'm not sure you can ever be fully ready but we are trying to do the best we can to prepare 🙂
Really? That is amazing! Hopefully my little man grows some more from his ultra sound before he is born…he is a bit smeaglish 🙂
Congratulations!!! Enjoy these days before the baby comes, trust me when I say you will look back on them fondly one day! Thanks for joining LOBS!
