Why Does God Allow Bad Things to Happen to Good People?

Why does a loving God allow bad things to happen to good people? That’s a tough question to answer and one that every Christian struggles withat one point or another in their walk through life.

My pastor, Jeff Chandler, tackled this very question during his sermon yesterday and I think he did an awesome job with it so I wanted to share with my readers.  I’m not sure what you might be struggling with right now in your personal life but I hope that watching his sermon through this link gives you some insight into a different perceptive.

The biggest takeaways for me are that although we will never truly know the answer to that difficult question on why God allows conflict and suffering it is important to remember that it might be to 1) draw you closer to Him; 2) for the greater good of His people.

Please watch the video and let me know what you think!

This is definitely a question we all ask from time to time. Why do children get cancer? Why do good people die young? Why do bad things happen to good people? In the end, we trust that His wisdom is greater than our own and with time comes the wisdom to see why things happened as they did…sometimes!

What a great message! I remember my Pastor always saying that "we don't always have the answers right now, but we have our faith".

That has always gotten me through tough times!

I always go back to Job when I think about this. Not only did Job show forth great faith in God, but he was blessed above and beyond what he had before his own ordeal. Both are such a testimony! I've seen friends and family that I know respond the same way to terrible situations and it was all to God's glory. There is always a purpose…sometimes it's just hard to see when the situation is uncomfortable.

Job is such a great example! You are right! I also have had family and friends who have shown a total outpouring of God's love when presented in awful situations. Thanks for commenting and reading my blog, Kari!

I have the same question myself! I was a product of a broken a family and I keep asking God why me? Until the day I was saved and God made me realized that bad things happen to us so we can minister to other people who experiences the same. It doesn't mean He loves us less. 🙂

That's a big question for sure! We forget that God made a perfect world, and it was man's choice to bring sin and heartache into it. It's so encouraging to know that He can take any bad situation and work it out for our good though! Great post!
