Hodge Podge Tuesday
It’s time for another round of my Hodge Podge Tuesday favorites.
1. Parenthood
I know I have posted about this show before but my gosh…if you haven’t watched it please do! I truly think this show may be my favorite ever series I have watched. We finished the first five sessions on Netflix this past weekend and I was crying like a baby when it ended. I am dying for the last and final session to come on Netflix Anybody have any idea when it is supposed to air?
2. First 5 App
This is my new favorite app. It is through Proverbs 31 Ministries and is an app in which you set your alarm through the app and upon turning off your alarm it opens the app to a five minute bible study. The idea being that the first few minutes of your day and what you do with it have a huge impact on your day. This app is A-MAZING. Download it now.
3. Lysa TerKeurst
Related to the last favorite I had the opportunity to attend a woman’s retreat last week and hear Lysa TerKeurst speak and you guys…I love her! The way she reads the Bible is incredible and I love that she has a passion for equipping women to share their stories for God’s glory. I have recently read one of her books, The Best Yes, and would highly encourage you to read it as well. It is all about learning to say no so you can yes to the best requests.
4. Strong & Kind
I know I have also side bar posted about Korie Robertson’s new book but it is so good and I am enjoying it so much that it is worth repeating. I have filled an entire notebook full of notes to discuss with my husband as they relate to parenting. The basic idea is that you need to pick two characteristic traits to engrave into your children. I will share more about the traits we choose later.
5. Booties & Blanket Scarves
Booties and blanket scarves are the styles of the season. I am loving this pair and this scarf. These are going to the top of my Christmas list.
Parenthood was one of my favorite shows of all time. I just loved the "real" aspect of the show. Very relatable on so many levels! I'm not sure when the last season will come out, but I ended up watching mine via Ipad apps. I just couldn't wait any longer! Honestly, I think I will watch the show again…it was just that good!! 😉
I LOVED "The Best Yes". Probably one of the best books I've read all year!
It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for my weekly hodge podge of my favorites this week.
1. THIS MAN.
Sorry to be mush gushy but God did me the biggest favor in giving me this guy as a husband. He is the best supporter and is over the top amazing to me and our little guy. This past Sunday morning I wasn’t feeling so great, the bug has been going around our house, so he got up early with the little guy so I could sleep in and surprised me by bringing me heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes in bed and Micky Mouse shaped pancakes for E. Sleeping in + chocolate + breakfast in bed = the way to my heart.
2. September 1st
It’s officially the first day of September which means fall is right around the corner. It also means PSL is out and in full force and I plan to get one on the way to work tomorrow.
3. College Football Starts Saturday
Should I say it again?!? COLLEGE FOOTBALL STARTS SATURDAY! I am over the hills excited. And we have a new quarterback who is a transfer from VA so I am excited/anxious to see him in action. GOOOO DAWGS!
4. We will be at the beach next week
Finally, we get to take our family vacation. So excited to spend some much needed R&R with my guys at the beach. We are in full prep mode over here this week.
5. Parenthood
We have recently started binge watching this show on Netflix and I’m hooked. I think I cry every episode. So good.
Welcome back to my second Hodge Podge Tuesday post where I share the top 5 things that I am loving this week. I am sorry this one is getting out late in the day. I had a stupid incident last night and fell and broke my ankle. I wish I had a cool story but I really don’t. So I am propped up with my leg in the air and late on posting. So glad to have these 5 things to make me smile and hope they bring a smile to your face as well. 🙂
1. Young Living Essential Oils
You guys I am normally not for the latest “fad” but after my husband and I got the stomach flu this past January and then the little guy got sick I was desperate and would have tried drinking a lake if you told me that had the potential to keep the germs and illness away. I ordered my Premium Starter Kit while laying in bed sick one evening and a few days later become an oil diffusing fool. And I have been AMAZED at how well these oils are working for our family. Thieves and Purification have kept ALL the illness away. I’m dead serious. Since starting the oils no one in my household has been sick once and that’s with us being exposed to daycare germs and all. Lemon and Lavender have cured not one but two ear infections and Lemon, Lavender, and Tree Tea Oils diffused at night have kept all of our allergies in check even in this pollen filled Georgia state. I am in LOVE. I just placed my second order last night. If you would have told me I would have spent $200 on oils this year alone last year I would have told you that you are crazy. Now I am saying you are crazy not to spend this money as you save so much time and money on not spending co-pays, drugs, and time off of work. If you are curious to try these oils out for yourself I highly encourage you to email me to get additional information. I have even started using them to clean my home instead of using toxic chemicals. Or if you are ready to jump right in here is what you need to do:
2) Enter this number in the enroll and sponsor ID : 2623666
3) Choose “wholesale member” and fill in all of your info
4) Choose which Premium Starter Kit you want ($150 with the home diffuser or $160 with the bamboo diffuser): I went with the $150 option and love it
5) From there you probably want to choose “No, thank you” to the Essential Rewards option for now. (I can tell you all about Essential Rewards later if you’re interested in getting discounted shipping and earning free oils and credit back to use on oils)
6) Then put in your payment information and check out. You’ll get TWO emails – one when you sign up and then one when your order is placed. As long as you got two emails, you’re all set!
7) Send me an email at marriedfilingjointly@gmail.com and I will add you to a personal Facebook group that helps with any questions you may have and helps you get oil started. These ladies and gentleman are a wealth of knowledge and the whole group is run by a Dr. which is great when it comes to what is safe to use on my baby questions.
2. Last episode of Nashville “This Just Ain’t a Good Day for Leaving”
Does anyone else watch ABC’s Nashville? I LOVE this show. And the last episode had me crying like a baby and I secretly loved every minute of it. I have also started following most of the cast on Instagram this past week which has been really fun. I am huge fans of Clare Bowen and Lennon and Maisy Stella. All of which are hosting a LIVE Nashville tour that I would LOVE to see if only they were coming to a city near by me. Check to see if they are coming to see a city near you here.
3. Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
I have been reading this book and am really getting a lot out of it. It shares the differences between women and men in the workplace. It is specifically geared to females in positions of management. It discusses why often women’s voices are not equally heard and some of the things we can to improve this in the workplace. Although I don’t agree with everything Sheryl’s says I think this book is a must read for women and men alike!
4. Jeni’s Ice Cream
If you have not had Jeni’s ice cream do yourself a favor and add this to your list of must visit ice cream shops. It is ice cream unlike anything of that you have ever had before. Unfortunately the nearest one to me is about 45 minutes away but it is a must visit at least once a month for me. My favorite flavors are the Lavender and the Dark Chocolate Rum. I have heard the Goat Cheese is really good too. Try it out! You won’t be sorry!
I am SO excited because we have decided we are going to take our little guy to Disney in 2016 and I have begun to plan. I found Southern Plate’s tips on Pinterest and she has some AWESOME tips for going to Disney with little ones. Like did you know the best time to go is in February or October? How about all the 411 to why you SHOULD def stay in a Disney resort? This blogger has all the info you need to plan your perfect trip and I have been pursuing her site during all my free time.
