Nursery Tour #1: DIY Hanging Pendant Light

As you all know if you are loyal followers, we have been hard at work on our little man’s nursery. I thought I would share with you all the latest DIY project we have completed in his nursery. We got the inspiration for this project while antiquing last weekend. While antiquing we saw a really neat light fixture made out of a old bottle. The particular store we were in was selling the fixture for $350 which was way out of budget. Together we started brainstorming ideas for neat things you could make into light fixtures and had the idea to make our own fixture out of a Hobart mixer whisk (the industrial size mixer…think a giant Kitchen Aid whisk).

We got on ebay and found a whisk for $50 (including shipping). We made our purchase and three days later it arrived at our front door. We then spray painted the whisk bronze (with an oil rubbed bronze spray paint we bought at Lowes) and went to Home Depot to purchase a fixture kit (it was $15.99). We followed the instructions on the fixture kit to set up the fixture, purchased a light bulb from Lowes, and hooked it up. Ta-DA! I LOVE the result! What do you guys think?
