An Hour Worth of Yard Sale Finds: $17.20

This past Saturday was one of the days I look forward to all year…our neighborhood’s semi-annual neighborhood yard sale. Every spring and every fall our neighborhood has a huge sale where many houses participate in a community yard sale simply by putting a balloon on their mailbox. Our neighborhood was developed as a self-sufficient community complete with its own day care center, 18 hole golf course, lake, gas station, and restaurants & has thousands of homes so people come from all over when we have our neighborhood yard sale twice a year. Traffic is a nightmare!

Unfortunately I was not able to attend the sale in the spring as I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s wedding in Florida that day. That being said this past Saturday, the day of the sale, we also had plans as my nephew’s 4th birthday party started on 10 AM that day. So we woke up extra early to hit the sales when they opened at 8 AM for an hour and half until we needed to head to the party.

There was TONS of traffic like there normally is on a yard sale day in our neighborhood and we only had an hour and a half to look so we did the best we could but I wish we could have shopped longer. So without further ado here are our findings from Saturday’s yard sale in the hour-ish amount of time we had to shop:

Season 1 of Downton Abbey $4
I have heard nothing but great things about Downton Abbey and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give the show a try. Have any of you guys watched it? Is it any good?
Sheltie Salt and Pepper Shakers $0.20
I bought these for my mom since we use to have a Sheltie, Chipper, who passed away years ago but we still love Shelties as it is a sweet reminder of our dog Chipper.
Pool/Lake Float $1
Since the tornado we have been slowly re-collecting our assortment of floats/rafts/skis for the lake. At $1 this was a find I couldn’t pass up.
Sifter from Pampered Chief $1
I have been needing a sifter for quite some time. The last time I needed one I bought one for like $8 from Kroger and it was awful and didn’t work at all so I ended up returning it.
The game of Risk $1
Risk is one of my all time favorite games. I grew up playing it for days at a time with my dad and brother, because as you know if you have ever played Risk, it is a game that takes at least a week to play! When I got my own home I left my childhood game at my parents so when I saw this game for a $1 at a yard sale I knew I had to get a copy for my house as well.
Antique Trunk $10

I was pretty excited when we drove by a sale and spotted this trunk. When I asked her about the price and she responded with $10 I yanked out my wallet faster than you can say, “Go Dawgs.” The trunk isn’t in the best shape but for $10 I had to get it…I think with a little clean up it’ll look great! I haven’t decided if I am going to clean it up and keep it for myself yet or pass it on to someone else but either way I’m in love.

That was all of the steals I could make happen in an hour but all in all it was a pretty good hour if I do say so myself. 🙂
