A 5 Minute Mommy Refuel

Rough mommy day? Don’t beat yourself up. The mom in E.T. had an alien living in her house for days and didn’t notice.

Being a mom is hard work! Sometimes I truly think we just need to take a moment to refuel ourselves so we can be a better mommy. My favorite way to refuel is to take a five minute break for myself. Today I am sharing my favorite 3 ways to refuel in 5 minutes during a busy day with little ones at home. I also am a big believer of capitalizing on nap time. I totally get it that nap time is when we as moms get all our work done (cue the laundry, bills, dishes, phone calls, etc.) but I believe it is critical to take 5-15 minutes of your kids nap time to focus on doing something for yourself. Just like the airlines like to say (can you tell I fly a lot?!) you must help yourself before you can help someone else.

  1. Grab a cup of coffee or a cup of tea, a comfy chair (or if the weather is nice) sit outside for a few moments and just breathe. Maybe read a few pages of a book or a magazine or just sit in silence. You will be amazed what a few minutes of quiet can do for your soul.
  2. Get in a quick 5 minute workout. My favorite workout app is called Active by Popsugar and features all sorts of awesome workouts in 5 minutes. The kids can plan next to you or by your side while you give yourself a bit of an energy boost.
  3. Have a dance party to a song or two. Turn on your favorite jam and turn up that volume and have a dance party in your living room. The boost of energy and the energy it pushes through your body will be a game changer. The kids can even join in on this one.

What are some of your favorite ways to refuel for a few minutes? Please share and help us all keep our sanity!
